American singer-songwriter Jhené Aiko has just dropped a music video for “Speak.” The empowering track finds itself on her latest full-length album Chilombo which stands for her father’s last name. The album which dropped in March 2020, followed by its deluxe version in July, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and became her highest-charting album yet as well as her fifth No. 1 effort on the Top R&B Albums chart.

The music video for “Speak” is directed by Brandon Parker, and sees Aiko enjoy everyday stuff at home, from cleaning to writing music and enjoying a calming bubble bath. As her day is being completed with immeasurable joy and happiness, she sings of freedom and does not care what that other person thinks. She encourages her listeners to “speak” their truth and escape judgment, as lyrics to the empowering chorus show up on the screen, saying: “Speak from my heart, baby/Speak from my soul, sugah/Say what you want, lady/Act like you know who you are. Speak from your gut, honey/Say what you want, my love/Be who you wanna be/Speak, speak, speak, speak/Be free.”
